You're Invited to Visit Us in Evansville This Summer
I’m excited to share some great news about a special event happening this summer! Along with three fellow Evansville artists—Calvin deRuyter, Lyssa Lovejoy, and Jackie Henning—I’ll be opening my studio to the public as part of the “Four Points of Light” studio tour. We’re coming together to draw more visitors to our creative spaces and to give you an up-close look at how we work.
We’ll be hosting these open studio days once a month throughout the summer. Each of us works just a few minutes apart, so you can easily visit all of our studios in one trip. Whether you’re an art lover, a collector, or just curious about what we do, we’d love for you to stop by!
Here are the dates:
- Friday and Saturday, June 28 and 29
- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 19, 20, and 21 (coinciding with the Art of the Lakes’ Studio Tour)
- Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17
- Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21 (the last two days of summer!)
We’ll be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on those days.
Studio Locations:
Calvin deRuyter: 18541 County Road 1 NW, Evansville 56326 | (763) 486-5862
Jackie and Stephen Henning: 22399-A Oak Hill Road NW, Evansville 56326 | (218) 948-2288
Lyssa Lovejoy: 508 N Gran Street, Evansville 56326 | (763) 516-7219
Each of us brings something different to the table, so you’ll get to experience a wide range of visual art during your visit.
- Calvin deRuyter works in both landscapes and abstracts, blending two very different styles in a way that reflects his artistic yin and yang.
- Lyssa Lovejoy creates paintings that tell stories. Each of her works is part of a series with a storytelling theme, drawing viewers into her artistic narrative.
- Jackie Henning, who is both a photographer and a faux finisher, creates intricate mixed media pieces that combine elements of photography, painting, found objects, and textured materials.
- And for my part, I focus on landscape painting, both in traditional and experimental impressionist styles. Inspired by nature, my goal is to create soothing, peaceful images that help take people away from the stress of everyday life.
What I love most about this collaboration is that we’re not just sharing our individual work—we’re building a sense of community and support among ourselves. As Lyssa said, “We share a sense of mutual support and camaraderie, and that spirit of collaboration can lead to shared successes and creative growth.” I couldn’t agree more. There’s even potential for group exhibitions in the future, and I’m excited about what’s to come.
We’re so fortunate to live and work in Minnesota, a state that truly values the arts. I hope you’ll visit us this summer for the 'Four Points of Light' studio tour, experience our work firsthand, and maybe even find a piece that speaks to you!
