This painting is about trust—trust in process, trust in perception, and trust that forward movement does not require a visible trail.
When I create large-scale work—especially a triptych—there is always a moment of awe when I see it in its final home. Recently, Sylvan Glen, a multi-panel autumn landscape, made its way from my Minnesota studio to a beautiful fifth-floor condo overlooking the hills and evergreens of Seattle.
What began as a neighborhood experiment among four Evansville-area artists grew into Four Points of Light — a shared exhibition celebrating creativity, friendship, and the luminous power of art.
The Awakening stands as a vertical portal into the forest — a 48" x 24" acrylic painting that captures the shifting interplay of light, color, and atmosphere. With cool blues, deep greens, and shimmering accents of warmth, the work invites viewers into a meditative dialogue with nature’s quiet mysteries.

Most people know me as a fine artist who sells originals through galleries, but few realize I also run Inspiration Peak Publishing — offering prints and merchandise directly from my studio since 1996. Discover the story behind it.

My goal with this artwork was to effectively balance colors and light, creating a harmonious image that evokes peace and invites viewers to imagine a serene walk through the woodland. As I worked on this painting, I found myself continually drawn into the tranquility of the scene I was depicting. Each brushstroke was a step through the forest, a pause in the embrace of nature, a moment of reflection.
For anyone in or near Fargo, Dakota Fine Art is a must-visit. Whether you're an art lover or just curious to explore something new, this gallery offers a variety of pieces that can add beauty and inspiration to any space.

“We share a sense of mutual support and camaraderie, and that spirit of collaboration can lead to shared successes and creative growth.” - Lyssa Lovejoy
Whether it’s an art reception, a corporate event, or a community celebration, this space serves as a vibrant backdrop where art and people come together. As Minnesota’s largest privately owned gallery, the Dow Art Gallery is a place where creativity thrives, and I’m proud to have my art showcased here.
I hope "Spring Thaw" invites you to pause and appreciate the understated magnificence of seasonal change, encouraging a moment of reflection as we transition into the warmth of spring.
This new creation is a work of love and nature, capturing the serene beauty and rich colors of the fall season. It also happens to be in one of my favorite places: Itasca State Park.
This exhibit showcased some of my favorite works, many of which reflect my deep connection to nature and the changing seasons.
When selecting a title for this exhibition, I chose “Perspectives” for its dual meaning. On one hand, it references the importance of perspective in landscape painting—how it allows us to capture the depth and scale of natural scenes. On the other hand, it reflects how my own artistic approach has evolved over the years.
I have felt called back to the simple joy of rolling up the sleeves, smushing around the thick buttery globs of paint at the end of a brush, and seeing what happens on a blank piece of canvas. There’s really nothing like losing oneself in the magical joy of the creative moment.
Experience nature's beauty and the emotional connection of everyday moments through this stunning piece.
On Monday of this week I had the opportunity to speak to a group of art students and their parents.
Despite Minnesota’s first snowstorm of the season, the gallery event on November 12 was a fun event for those attending.
…After loading my sketchbook and drawing utensils we’d have a quick discussion and head for the hills. Sometimes quite literally…
The Chinese method of teaching art leans heavily on copying. Although that is not my method of teaching, it helped me overcome the language barrier. Gillian, my interpreter, was indispensable…

As artists, we often assume that finishing a painting is a singular moment. In reality, some works mature quietly over years, waiting for the right eye, the right distance, or the right moment of clarity.
